The calculator does not require an account. When you enter planning information, such as salary, age, balance, contribution rate, or employer match details, that information is processed in your browser to calculate the scenario you requested. Please do not enter account numbers, Social Security numbers, passwords, or other sensitive personal information.

If you email 401kcalc.app, we may receive your email address, the contents of your message, and related delivery metadata. Do not send confidential financial or account information by email.

3. Browser storage and share links

Calculator settings may be stored in your browser’s local storage under the key 401kcalc_inputs_v1. This storage remains on your device unless you clear it or use browser controls that remove site data.

Some calculator inputs may be encoded in the page URL so that a scenario can be shared or restored. A shared URL can therefore contain financial planning inputs. Review a URL before sharing it, and avoid sharing links containing information you do not want another person to see.

CSV exports are generated in your browser. The exported file may contain salary, contribution, and projected financial values; its handling after download is outside our control.

4. Technical information

Our hosting provider may process standard technical information such as IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, timestamps, and error logs to deliver the site, maintain security, and diagnose problems.
